Good Afternoon, BMRSD Community,
I hope your week is off to a great start.
As you know we have been working on reviewing our school district facility needs. Recently, we shared a proposed plan for reconfiguring our grade levels and school buildings for School Year ‘23-’24 (next school year.) We held two staff forums and two parent/guardian forums to discuss the model and answer questions. Following the forums we sent a survey asking for feedback on the proposed model. We thank the over 400 school district community members for taking the time to complete the survey. This is a very important issue and we appreciate your feedback.
As you can see from the attached survey results, it is clear the school district community sees the need for a school district reconfiguration. However, with only 58% of survey participants feeling the proposed model “makes sense” we have decided to postpone the public hearing scheduled for this Thursday, December 15th until a later date.
We will, instead, take additional time and continue to work with our school district community around the proposed design. This does mean that we will not be able to make any grade assignment changes for next school year and we will be running the model we have now.
It is important to note that at some point we need to reconfigure our grade-level building assignments. However, presently, if the community needs additional time to work through the changes we understand and are open to doing so.
We will set up more school community forums over the next few months. Please be on the lookout for meeting dates and times. We are looking forward to partnering closely with you on any future changes.
Thanks, again, for your feedback.
